คนส่วนใหญ่จะได้ยินและได้รับรู้มาว่าทิวลิปจะปลูกขึ้นได้ก็เฉพาะประเทศที่มีอากาศหนาวเท่านั้น แต่จากการทดลองของเรากว่าจะได้ต้นทิวลิปนั้นต้องผ่านการควบคุมความเย็นและสภาพแวดล้อมอื่นๆเป็นเวลาพอสมควรกว่าจะได้มาเป็นดอกทิวลิปที่สมบูรณ์

ทิวลิป หรือ ลาเล่ห์ ในภาษาเปอเซีย(ชาวเปอเซียเป็นผู้ัตั้งชื่อแต่เดิม) หมายถึง"turban"(ผ้าคลุมศรีษะ) พรรณารูปร่างลักษณะของดอกไม้ ทิวลิปเป็นดอกไม้ที่สื่อว่า"อยากให้โลกรู้ว่าฉันรักเธอ" อันที่จริงแล้วดอกทิวลิิปคือ สัญลักษณ์แห่งความรักอย่างแท้จริงโดยเฉพาะดอกทิวลิปสีแดง(แบสทอนจ์)ที่กลุ่มภรรยาของเหล่าทหารชาวเบลเยียมได้มอบไว้ให้กับสามีก่อนออกไปรบที่ี่เมือง แบสทอนจ์ ประเทศเบลเยียมเมื่อปี คศ 1944 จึงมีการตั้งชื่อสายพันธ์ตามชื่อเมือง
The Tulip is or Laleh as it is called in persian, means turban describing the flowers shape. The flower and its name originated in the Persian Empire. Actually the Tulip is a true symbol of love, especially Red Tulip means to show to the world that I Love You in particular the Bastogne variety which was given to the husband by his wife before he left for the battle field held in Bastogne, Belgium in Dec., 1944.
